The Ruins of Auromia, Sessions 11-13 and Retrospective
After two years and two months, we finally finished The Ruins of Auromia! I notice that I've been lax I writing up session reports, so this will be a general overview of what happened, where the characters wound up, and how the world has changed going forward as a result.
In Session Eleven, the dead characters went through Purgatory. They confronted their past lives and managed to process some of it. They also met some of the Fairies living in Purgatory.
In Session Twelve, the dead characters returned to life with new fairy powers and united with their allies in Baraccoppoli and amongst the free fairies. They attacked the ghost armies of Bellona and found the gold dragon vault where the last artifacts were hidden. They also were warned about their former employer, Aurelian the undead gold dragon.
In Session Thirteen, the players fought the servants of Bellona and rescued Tellaia from captivity. They convinced her to help them destroy the fairy relics at the Temple of Morta. Bellona arrived to fight them and they defeated her quickly. Aurelian also arrived and tried to claim the relics for himself. Tellaia died, and her power passed to Sorrel, who was able to destroy the last of the relics. Iliria was able to dispel the magic Aurelian was using to animate himself (with possible divine intervention) and his body disintegrated.
After a celebratory party, the party went their own ways. Sorrel, as the new earth elemental queen of Auromia, made the city a haven for lesser fairies - pixies, nails, centaurs, satyr, and the like, with Pia as her servant. Iliria stole the mantle of Nocta, and became a fairy as well. Noke and Ezio realised that they would die again soon. Noke made a pact with Iliria to stay alive for longer, and then returned home to Kymaiopoli to try and fight the crime there. Ezio decided to die, and was reunited with his lover Roberto in Purgatory. And Dova returned home to her family for a while, until the call of more adventure and excitement became too strong. Then she was approached by a brass dragon, who wanted to recruit her into the Humanists, and Dova accepted.
So Auromia is now a home for free fairies! Players in future games will be able to choose centaurs, satyrs and the like as options for their characters. Major villains like the fairy gods and Aurelian are defeated, though Aurelian almost certainly is still around as a ghost now. What will he try next? Will he try to possess a host, or to get a new body of his own? As for the fairies, I think they're gone. Ilaria, the Queen of Blood, who was a warlock patron in Carnevale and the partner of Bellona here, escaped, so she's probably the biggest fairy going forward.
I'd like to thank all my players. This was an incredibly disrupted game with lockdowns and other delays, and with players leaving unexpectedly, but we got there in the end!
What's next for Tirenia? Probably a break from campaigns for a bit. I have a D&D game with Claire, and a Star Wars d6 game with a new group of players. I have the next booklets to finish. But I'm sure it won't be long before our next Tirenia campaign.
